EU Commission considers enacting the EU-Mercosur trade deal before MEPs ratify it

A qualified majority of European Union member states approved the deal, which the EU Commission had concluded with the South American countries at the end of 2024. Amid tensions, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen raised the possibility of implementing the deal before MEPs voted on it.
